Wellington is the gateway to the South Island from the north, and in the heart of the country, it places us in prime position from which to start our tours.

A five-day escorted coach tour starting with a great introduction and orientation of Wellington city on the day of your arrival. After settling down in your accommodation, you will visit Mt Victoria the highest lookout point in Wellington where you can enjoy a spectacular 360 degree view of Wellington city followed by a visit to Te Papa, a world class museum displaying New Zealand's culture of the past and present. The next day you'll be departing from Wellington, where the adventure begins as you explore the central North Island's popular destination of Rotorua.
This tour is perfect for those wishing to do a relaxing bus tour with a touch of adventure on a scenic journey to Rotorua. Enjoy photo stop opportunities and small town comfort and refreshment stops as we pass through mountain ranges on this route to Rotorua, the cultural capital of New Zealand. Taupo will be one of the highlight stops on the way. Lake Taupo is the largest freshwater lake in Australasia. From here you can enjoy a refreshment stop at the famous Prawn Farm and Restaurant and visit one of New Zealand's most popular Manuka honey shops before travelling on to Rotorua.
Rotorua is a geothermal wonderland. This tour in Rotorua includes the thermal & cultural highlights of the North Island.
The highlight of this tour is a day out visiting the Waitomo Caves. This is a world class experience. Take a 2-3 hour guided tour deep underground in the heart of the Waikato, where a series of unique caves will take your breath away. See the amazing limestone formations created over the centuries, a deep limestone shaft and a soaring subterranean cathedral that will leave you speechless. Then board a boat for a short ride along the river to witness the magic of the glowworms. As you enter the grotto, you will see thousands of tiny lights flashing in the darkness, each one a glowworm, creating a mystical fairyland.
You have some afternoons free in Rotorua to relax or visit some other local attractions at your own leisure, or you can join one of our guides (in your leisure time) relaxing in the mineral hotpools at the Polynesian Spa. Here you can enjoy a different variety of geothermal hot pools with fantastic lake views.
Next day - Enjoy an easy-guided nature walk at one of Rotorua's most popular attractions of the magnificent redwood forest.
There will be time to enjoy more relaxation at the Polynesian Spa before the next event.
Experience a traditional Maori Concert & Hangi dinner where your dinner is cooked underneath the ground!
On your last day, heading back to Wellington and stopping on route at the famous Huka Falls is a great way to end your adventure before continuing your coach journey back to our capital city Wellington.

|Arrive in Wellington|
You will be met and greeted at Wellington airport on your arrival by our NZ Tour Adventures representative and taken to your accommodation where you can unload your luggage and relax. Soon after, you can enjoy a guided tour around our capital city of Wellington which includes a fabulous scenic view of Wellington city from our highest look out point on Mt Victoria. You will then be taken to Te Papa Museum a short distance from your accommodation. We are proud of our world class museum displaying the finest of our past and history. This is a must see activitity and you wont be dissapointed. After that you will be returned to your accommodation to relax before your journey continues the next day.
|The Journey to Rotorua|
Your tour starts from 8am with a comfortable 6 - 7 hour scenic bus journey traveling up to the central North Island en route to Rotorua. On the way you will enjoy spectacular countryside scenery with flexible photo stop opportunities and small town comfort and refreshment stops. Passing mountain ranges and travelling through the barren Desert Road where, on a clear day, you get wonderful views of the towering peaks of Mt Ngauruhoe, Tongariro and Ruapehu, a beautiful mountain range called Mt Ruapehu. Next stop: Taupo, a popular tourist attraction on the fringe of the largest fresh water lake in Australasia. Here you can enjoy a refreshment stop at the famous Prawn Farm and Restaurant and a visit to one of New Zealand's most popular Manuka honey shops. Another hour from here you will arrive at Rotorua, the cultural capital of New Zealand where you are taken to your accommodation to unload and relax. Your accommodation is in the center of Rotorua, where you can walk easily through the town center at you own leisure and enjoy the local attractions, or you can join your guide (in your leisure time) for a visit to the Polynesian mineral hot pools.
Your tour starts at 9 am departing from your accommodation, traveling East by bus on a 1 hour & 45 minute journey to the Waitomo Caves.
On arrival at the Waitomo Caves visitor centre, there will be time to browse the gift shop for souvenirs or visit the Theatre & Exhibition Center. This is also a good time to have lunch at the Café or restaurant before the cave tour starts.

|Redwood Forest Nature Walk and Maori Culture Hangi (Meal and concert)|
Your tour starts at 9am. A short distance from your accommodation is another one of Rotorua’s most popular attractions: a walking track rated one of the top 10 in the world. A guided tour starts through the beautiful Redwood Grove under the magnificent, towering Californian Coastal Redwoods. Well-formed tracks that take up to an hour (return) of easy walking. Suitable for most ages and fitness levels. On return, you have time to relax at your own leisure for a few hours or enjoy more mineral hot pool therapy at the Polynesian Spa. At 6pm you visit Tamaki Maori Village who operate an authentic introduction to Maori culture, a Maori cultural concert performance and a free Maori Hangi, which is food cooked underground.
|The journey back to Wellington|
This morning at around 8am, you'll depart Rotorua on a bus journey traveling down the central North Island en route back to Wellington. On the way you will enjoy the same spectacular countryside scenery as you did on the way up. Another highlight on your return travel will be a short visit to the famous Huka Falls just north of Taupo. A footbridge right at the top of the Huka falls puts you in a prime position to get a close up view and witness the incredible display of more than 220,000 litres of water blasting by every second. The trip continues with flexible comfort, refreshment & photo stops. Your journey continues back to Wellington where you are taken back to your accommodation. Your accommodation is in the center of Wellington where you can walk easily through the town and enjoy the local attractions at your leisure.
For those returning to their home country on this day, your tour hosts will take you to Wellington Airport from your accommodation 2 hours before your departure from Wellington to your connecting flight from Auckland or Christchurch.
Some additional activities with our guides are at your own cost in your own leisure time.
